foolproof pie crust

My favorite pie crust! Makes 2 (9 inch) and 1 shell. If you're nervous about making your own pie crust, this is the perfect recipe for you! Comes out great every time.

Ingredients

  • FOOL PROOF PIE CRUST
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup ice water

How To Make foolproof pie crust

    • Flour, shortening, sugar, and apple cider vinegar in a bowl.
      Step 1
      Add all ingredients except egg and water to a large bowl.
  • Mixture combined until it forms crumbs.
    Step 2
    Mix with a pastry cutter or fork until it looks like gravel.
  • Egg and water mixed together.
    Step 3
    In a separate bowl or liquid measuring cup, beat together the egg and water.
  • Adding egg mixture to the flour mixture.
    Step 4
    Add the egg mixture to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork. Form dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap.
  • Chilling the dough.
    Step 5
    Chill 15 minutes before rolling out. The dough can be left in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or it can be frozen until ready to use.
